Setting up your NPI Number in InstaClaim
Boxes 17, 24J, 32 and/or 33
Global Settings for NPI
1. Click [Settings].
2. Go to the [New Claim] Tab.
3. Click on the [?] for the Facility Name.
4. This brings up the [Select Service Facility] window.
5. Select the Facility. If you have more than one facility/Physician select the one that you will use the most on a brand new claim for a brand new patient. If there are no facilities currently available, you may add one now by going to the [Add] Tab and adding the facility and information. Remember to click the [Add] button, if this a new facility. Check to make sure that the Facility you choose has their NPI number listed. You can check this by going to the [Edit-Remove] Tab.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 for the Billing Name.
NPI numbers are attached to each particular provider.
You will want to add all of your Providers (Rendering, Facility, Billing) to your Provider list. See the InstaClaim “Provider List” article for instructions on adding a provider to your list.
For an Individual Claim
1. From the main window, Highlight the patient
2. Highlight the claim
3. Click [Edit]
4. Go to the [Provider Info] Tab
5. In Box [32/33 Facility Name/Billing Provider Name] Click on the [?]
6. The Provider Window will open
7. Highlight the Facility/Billing Name. If the Provider is not shown, you may add it at this time by going to the [Add] Tab and entering the information and then clicking on the [Add] button.
8. Click [Select]
9. This Provider will appear in the [Provider Info] Tab window along with the NPI number.
10. This information will carry forward from the last claim entered for this patient to the new claim for this patient. This will take place until you change the information.
NOTE: InstaClaim is set up with global settings to create a new claim for a new patient with information already filled in. The first claim will have the Provider that you entered from the [Settings] section. If this is not correct, you will need to change it within the claim you are creating. Whatever settings you choose for the first claim for a patient, will carry forward to the next new claim. These settings will be saved for that patient until you change them, then the new information you enter will carry forward.
You will need to complete steps 1-10 for an Individual Claim for each patient that requires information different than that found in the [Settings] section. You will only need to do it for the first claim for that patient.
