Announcing Coding Changes for 2003

It's that time of year again - anticipated changes for coding professionals are being released.
  • CPT has well over 400 changes
  • ICD-9-CM has more than 1200 changes
  • HCPCS has almost 1,000 changes
CPT has 189 New codes, 32 deleted codes and 207 revised codes (not including changes in indexing).

ICD-9-CM changes have been released. There are 238 new codes for 2003 and nearly 1000 other changes, revisions, additions or deletions.

Please note that for CMS, these changes are effective on October 1, 2002 with an implementation grace period until December 31, 2002.

Check our lists below to see if codes that you use might be on the deletion list. If they are on this list, there is most likely a new code that has been assigned. **These are not complete lists of all changes.**  There are nearly 1000 other changes which may affect the codes that you are currently using.
