Announcing Coding Changes for 2004
It's that time of year again - anticipated changes for coding professionals are being released.
- CPT has over 500 changes
- ICD-9-CM has more than 1200 changes
- HCPCS has over 800 changes
ICD-9-CM changes have been released. There are 105 new codes for 2004 and over 1100 other changes, revisions, additions or deletions.
Please note that for CMS, these changes are effective on October 1, 2003 with an implementation grace period until December 31, 2003.
Check our lists below to see if codes that you use might be on the deletion list. If they are on this list, there is most likely a new code that has been assigned. **These are not complete lists of all changes.** There are nearly 1100 other changes which may affect the codes that you are currently using.

With all these changes, staying compliant is more important than ever. To assist you, we are taking advance orders for 2004 versions of books and software starting in September 2003.
